LUKA MODRIC CROWNED BEST MALE PLAYER AT FIFA AWARD

Luka Modric was named the world’s best male player at the Best Fifa Football Awards in London.
Modric took the honor following a successful season with Real Madrid, in which he helped the club to another Champions League victory for a third consecutive season.
The Croatia midfielder won with 29 percent of the votes, coming in ahead of Ronaldo (19 percent), Mohamed Salah (11.2 percent), Kylian Mbappe (10 percent) and Messi (9 percent), who along with Ronaldo skipped the ceremony.
In the process, Luka Modric ended Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi’s dominance of the best individual accolades in world football, which had stretched back to 2007, when Kaka won the Ballon d’Or.
“This award is not just mine. It is my teammates’ from Real Madrid and Croatia. Without my coaches, I would not have won this and without my family I would not be the player I am today,” said 33-year-old Modric.
